Jamie Oliver Would be Proud - Sorta.

The boys and I were out running errands this week when I realized it was way past lunch time.  Stopped at the drive through, I asked Miles if he wanted apples or fries with his nuggets.  He said, "APPLES!" Ahhhh, good choice Buddy!  I told him Mom would get fries and we could share.  "No Mom, " he said, "You need apples." I "need" apples, as in, I don't need fries? "No fries Mom.  You NEED apples too."   I'm going to have to get more organized before the day comes when Miles tells me we shouldn't even be eating fast food.

As we left and were headed home, we passed the Gelato cafe that's a family favorite.  "Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm - Ice Cream!"  I hear from the back seat. "Mom - It's time for ice cream." What about your apples? Do you want ice cream for lunch, instead?  "Yeah! I LOVE ice cream!"

What a relief.  He's normal after all.

Terms of Endearment

It was one of those lazy early mornings when Dad left for work early and the boys and I weren't awake enough to do anything other than snuggle on the couch together.  Max was his full milk belly happy self, smiling and cooing at me when Miles crawled into my lap next to him.  As he laid his head on my chest he said, "I love you so much."  After my melted heart recovered, I blinked back tears and said, "I love you too, Miles." He looked up at me with his big doe-like brown eyes, smiled and said, "I'm so smart."

Egg Hunt 2010

Here's a few pic's of the Great Egg Hunt 2010. Miles was eager to get started after getting "noculars" from E.B. Max hung out with cousin Adam during the whole event.

Tooth #1

We discovered Max's 1st tooth Sunday evening. He'd been a little fussy during the week, not want to play by himself as long as usual.  He needed to be nursed completely to sleep a few nights as well, which is unusual for him. By Sunday he was sporting bright red cheeks and mega amounts of drool. We survived without any night wakings! The next one might not be as easy.  I was up with him at 2:30 am and 4:30 am last night - for the first time in weeks or even months.
Update: Tooth #2 cut through a week later. Yeah for Max cutting teeth while Mommy's at work!

He Did It!

Miles made a "poo poo" in the potty! And suddenly I understand the hype and excitement of this milestone.  Sorry Miles - someday you'll be mortified by this picture and blog posting. Sorry Everyone Who's Never Potty Trained a Child - this probably looks and sounds disgusting.  But we're pretty excited today!

Max is on the Move

Here's Max at 5 months!
He's been spending lots of time on the floor in the living room practicing rolling. It's starting to pay off - as of yesterday he is now able to move across the entire length of the room between shimmys, squirms, shoves and rolls.

Miles has been trying to show Max how to crawl.
He's not buying into it yet.
But - he's still our "smiling Max."

Max's First Rebel Game!

UNLV vs BYU on 2/06/10.  We missed the fire works due to heavy traffic.  The game was sold out - and was crazy loud! Max took it all in, never cried, and fell asleep during the second half.  The Rebels won 88-74 over #12 ranked BYU; Mike considers Max good luck and wants to take him to all the games from now on.

Max's Baptism

Max was baptized on January 9th, 2010 at Christ Is King Catholic Community in Las Vegas. His Godparents are Nevada and Kristen Colwell. Father Joe A. presided over the ceremony, he also baptized Miles. Due to an untimely camera experiment, we only ended up with these action shots. All that time torturing ourselves by trying to get a toddler and an infant to stay still in numerous group shots was for not.

The church was small yet beautiful with wood paneling throughout the interior.  Mike took some architectural shots, that also did not turn out. Max was calm the entire time, until he got dosed with holy water. The church has a baptismal fountain which was not heated the day we were there so Max wasn't able to be dunked. We had everyone over to our house for a luncheon afterward.  Max slept the entire time so I wasn't able to get any shots of him with anyone - as I had originally hoped.  He didn't wake up until the last guests were leaving and it was time to get ready for the Rebel basketball game.  A true Rebel fan.

Mustache Mayhem

Here's Miles modeling his favorite facial feature, The Mustache. His fascination with mustaches began with a Sesame Street episode in which Elmo pretended to be Gordan by wearing a shower cap and a fake mustache. Ever since, Miles would come up to me for what I thought was a hug, but instead was to grab a strand of my hair to use as a mustache.  Santa was kind enough to give Miles a collection of fake mustaches to play with.  On this day we found his perfect color match.

Wearing his seventies style sweat-suit.
Yep - That's a can of hairspray in his hand.

Herbivores Eat Plants

I might get Miles to start eating more vegetables after all.  We were having spinach salad for dinner last night.  I handed Miles a couple pieces of baby spinach and he said, "Leaves?!?"  Yes, Miles.  Leaves, just like herbivore eat.  He got a huge grin on his face then stuffed them in his mouth. "Mmmmm . . . leaves good!"
